What is Artist In The Spotlight?
Our team simply collects weekly all the data that is sent automatically from our servers and is transformed into a chart; This gives us a clear situation about each artist in our network and the degree of appreciation of our listeners for each artist. The artist who will have the highest appreciation in that week will be called "Artist In The Spotlight"; The collection of these data takes place every Sunday at 12:00 am UTC.
I was inspired to write this song from a true news story that happened in a small village in the province of Reggio Calabria in 2017. I decide to use two languages: English and Italian, where with the first (using an unexpected funky sound) I denounce the silence of most of the people who knew what was happening through the metaphor of the "tongue that moves but not speak, just for gossip but not denounce". In Italian language, however, I try to bring you into the violent story, like many stories happened during last years... too many. I sing the anger of the acrid smell of silence, I highlight the scenario of the violence’s history by focusing on the pain and the reiteration of the act, the mistreatments, the insults. I wonder how anyone can have an erection, an ejaculation in front of a crying woman… How can the dictates of belonging to a group prevail over proper heart...there is still no answer. A report said that every 131 minutes there are rapes, violences and abuses but unfortunately many more are silenced...BREAK THE SILENCE!
